CapEx Projects
CapEx Phase 1 & Phase 2 are complete. These phases consisted of Blower replacement (Phase 1); and sludge removal, liner replacement, and aeration replacement (Phase 2).
Phase 3 Underway!
We are continuing our CapEx projects and have moved to Phase 3. Phase 3 focuses on the Pump Stations. Resort Waste has 10 pump stations within our infrastructure. Each Pump Station will undergo pump replacements and control box replacements.
Each control box will be upgraded to a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. This system provides the operators with up to date and current information for each pump station. And can be accessed remotely via computer, phone and tablet. This system upgrade will bring the RWS Wastewater Treatment Facility further into the 21st Century, something we are very proud of!
With the SCADA system, the operator's of RWS will have constant access to essential data that will allow the operator time to be proactive regarding worn out equipment, and other operational processes and needs.

Below is a photograph of our Secondary Treatment Process, otherwise known as Lagoons. Secondary Treatment is a biological process to further purify water after the Primary Treatment Process. This process removes dissolved organic matter and nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen. Microorganisms such as bacteria break down the contaminants.
Why did our Operator peak around the corner of the building to snap this photograph? Because they wanted to show you some of our key helpers in knowing our lagoons are healthy and have the right nutrients and microogranisms - ducks!
Due to the lagoon upgrades in 2022, our "helpers" did not take too much interest in our lagoons in 2023-2024 due to the infancy of the lagoons. As it takes time for the biology to build back up; especially in our small, somewhat seasonal community. But this year we have been so excited to see our lagoons booming with life! Soon we will see little ducklings swimming around as well. And we are patiently waiting for the day we spy some turtles sunbathing on the liners. We love the mini ecosystem a wastewater treatment facility creates!
